INNOVATIVE IRRIGATION WATER MANAGEMENT
Facing the exponential growth of the world population and the escalating drought issues, Raincatcher Technologies, a UAE startup founded by two French citizens, has developed a comprehensive solution offering a sustainable approach to irrigation water management.
PROVEN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Research conducted with the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture in Dubai (ICBA - a department of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment) has yielded compelling results, demonstrating water savings of 85% in the irrigation of date palms, accompanied by an increase in date production between 20 and 50%. Furthermore, a 50% reduction in irrigation water has been reached in the cultivation of Alfalfa, a protein-rich lucerne utilized for livestock feed.
ECO-FRIENDLY AGRICULTURAL SOLUTION
A further three-year research program conducted with ICBA has conclusively established the eco-friendly nature of Raincatcher fertilizer. This technology is suitable for food crop cultivation, facilitates soil regeneration by fostering biomass development, and is fully biodegradable over a period of 3 to 5 years.
OPTIMIZED RESULTS THROUGH UNIQUE EXPERTISE
Raincatcher Technologies has built up unique expertise to optimize the results of its solution, which, depending on the dosage and application depth, can emphasize water savings or agricultural yields. The calculations consider numerous terroir-related parameters (soil, plant, and climate) and are now performed by a specifically developed algorithm.
GLOBAL SOLUTION THROUGH UNIQUE TOOLS
To offer a holistic solution, Raincatcher is developing its own injection tools. Our unique tree rehydration RCI-124 tool can treat a tree in less than 5 minutes (>30,000/year). Additional tools, currently under development, will soon allow the application of Raincatcher to grassy surfaces greedy in water such as golf courses, as well as broad-acre farming that utilizes seed drills.
After four years of R&D, the Proof of Concept was successfully conducted at the Dubai “Falcon City of Wonders” compound, demonstrating over 90% water saving on irrigation for palms, acacias, shrubs and turf. Large-scale trials have commenced in Morocco (olives and palms), and Raincatcher has been selected by the NEOM project (Saudi Arabia) for field trials, aiming to save their irrigation water across 10,000 hectares of crops
